COACHING CAREER: Steve Foster is in his fifth season as pitching coach for the Rockies ... Foster came to Colorado from the Kansas City Royals, where he worked during the 2013-14 seasons as special assistant to the general manager/pitching coordinator after serving the 2010-12 campaigns as the Major League bullpen coach ... Prior to his stint with the Royals, he served as a coach for five seasons with the Florida Marlins, including three seasons (2007-09) as their bullpen coach … he was also the pitching coach at the Marlins' Low-A Greensboro affiliate (2005-06) ... Worked as a scout for the Tampa Bay Rays (1996, 1999-2000) ... Coached at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point (1997-98) and University of Michigan (2001-02) ... Served as the manager of the Wisconsin Woodchucks of the Northwoods League for two seasons (2002-03), where he was named Manager of the Year in 2003.

PLAYING CAREER: Originally drafted by Cincinnati in the 12th round of the 1988 First-Year Player Draft and played three seasons in the Major Leagues with Cincinnati (1991-93) ... Suffered a career-ending shoulder injury in 1993, after compiling a career Major League record of 3-3 with a 2.41 ERA (89.2 IP, 24 ER) in 59 appearances ... Played baseball at the University of Texas-Arlington, earning Southland Conference Pitcher of the Year honors in 1988.

PERSONAL: Stephen Eugene Foster … he and his wife Cori reside in Mosinee, Wis ... Together they have two children, son Casey and daughter Lauren … Casey is a recent graduate of the University of North Texas … Lauren plays softball at the University of Wisconsin.
