COACHING CAREER: Darren Holmes enters his third season as the club's bullpen coach … prior to joining the Rockies, he spent the 2014 season as the Atlanta Braves' biomechanics pitching consultant … this was a return to the Rockies organization for Holmes, who was drafted by Colorado in the 1992 Expansion Draft from the Milwaukee Brewers (third pick) and was a member of the inaugural Rockies roster in 1993.

PLAYING CAREER: Holmes spent parts of 13 seasons in the Major Leagues (1990-2003) with eight teams, including the Los Angeles Dodgers (1990), Milwaukee Brewers (1991-92), Colorado Rockies (1993-97), New York Yankees (1998), Arizona Diamondbacks (1999-2000), St. Louis Cardinals (2000), Baltimore Orioles (2000) and Atlanta Braves (2002-03) … Holmes made at least 60 appearances in a season three times, all with Colorado (1993, 1995-96) … he ranks among the Rockies all-time leaders in appearances (263, 11th), saves (46, 6th) and innings pitched as a reliever (296.1, 6th) … he pitched in three postseasons: 1995 Rockies, 1999 Arizona Diamondbacks and 2002 Atlanta Braves … he also made 34 appearances for the 1998 World Series Champion New York Yankees and 48 appearances for the 2003 Atlanta Braves that won 101 regular season games … he was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in 1984 in the 16th round out of T.C. Roberson High School in Asheville, North Carolina.

PERSONAL: Darren Holmes has been married to Kathy for 29 years and the couple has four children: Courtney, Hayleigh, Branson and Brentlie … prior to joining the coaching staff for the Rockies, Darren served as a director and biomechanics specialist at Acceleration Sports Institute, owned by the Greenville Health System in Greenville, S.C.
