The Rockies made a move Friday night to shake up their roster before the series opener against the D-backs.
Colorado designated left-hander Randy Flores for assignment. To take Flores' spot, the club recalled infielder Jonathan Herrera from Triple-A Colorado Springs.
Herrera, who was with the club for Friday night's contest, joins the big league squad for the second time this season. The 25-year-old hit .278 during his previous stint with the Rockies, including two hitting streaks of at least 10 games. At Triple-A Colorado Springs, Herrera hit .261 with two homers and 17 RBIs in 58 games.
The veteran Flores has been strong in 47 appearances out of the 'pen this season for the Rockies. The left-hander is 2-0 with a 2.96 ERA this season, but still finds himself headed back to the Minors.
