DENVER -- The Colorado Rockies added five players Friday to their 40-man roster: right-handers Bruce Billings, Cory Riordan and Casey Weathers and catchers Jordan Pacheco and Wilin Rosario. Billings, 25, finished 11-6 with a 3.28 ERA for Double-A Tulsa while performing as both a starter and reliever. A Texas League midseason All-Star, Billings also has been pitching for Scottsdale in the Arizona Fall League and was named to the AFL Rising Stars team. Riordan, 24, went 8-5 with a 4.01 ERA in 27 games for Tulsa, including 24 starts. He has accumulated at least 160 innings and 134 strikeouts in each of his three full Minor League seasons.
Weathers, 25, missed 2009 after undergoing "Tommy John" elbow surgery, but rebounded this year to limit opponents to a .185 batting average in 30 relief appearances with short-season Tri-City and Class A Modesto. Colorado's first-round selection (eighth overall) in the 2007 First-Year Player Draft, Weathers compiled an 0-1 record and a 4.15 ERA with four saves. Pacheco, 24, hit .323 with 32 doubles, three triples, six home runs, 89 RBIs, a .405 on-base percentage and a .442 slugging percentage in 125 games with Modesto and Tulsa. He hit .317 in his first 18 games with Scottsdale in the AFL. Pacheco was a midseason and postseason California League All-Star. Rosario, 21, hit .285 with 13 doubles, 19 home runs and 52 RBIs in 73 games for Tulsa. He led the Drillers in both home runs and slugging percentage (.552) en route to being named a Texas League midseason and postseason All-Star. Rosario also was one of two Rockies, along with left-hander Christian Friedrich, to play in the XM All-Star Futures Game. The Rockies have 37 players on their 40-man roster.
