SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- The sight of Rockies fan Josh Pugh's 16-inch "Mile High Mohawk" is unforgettable, and it earned him a memorable trip to Spring Training on Sunday, thanks to MLB and the "TODAY Show" on NBC.
And maybe no one will forget Pugh's unique hair, which is a creation of his wife, Alissa, that takes 4-12 hours.
"We talked about that, and in 30 years I'll show up to a game with a big ol' mohawk," Pugh said. "I think that'll be amazing. I hope I still have my hair in 30 years. But as much product as I put in my hair, I'll be surprised."
Pugh won the ultimate VIP Spring Training contest through the TV show's "Take Me Out to the Ballgame Contest." He met manager Bud Black and the players, watched batting practice and threw the ceremonial first pitch before Sunday's Athletics-Rockies game at Salt River Fields at Talking Stick. Pugh appeared on "TODAY" last week. He was the Rockies' 2016 MLB Fan of the Year.

Although he supports the Denver Broncos, Denver Nuggets and Colorado Avalanche with his enthusiasm and his hair, which he has sported since 2011, Pugh says the Rockies are his team. In those hours of preparation, much goes into his signature look.
""Patience, an iron and a lot of product," said Alissa, who wears Mrs. Mohawk on the back of her jersey. "Got to be Glued for hairspray, and the colors, we can't give you the answer because we have to go to multiple different places to get multiple colors and different brands."
In case anyone is wondering, Pugh said he has not attempted the updated shade of purple the Rockies adopted for 2017.
