DENVER -- The Rockies received Minor League left-handed pitcher Nick Schmidt from the Padres on Friday to complete the deal that sent former closer Huston Street to San Diego.

A former Padres first-round Draft pick in 2007 out of the University of Arkansas, Schmidt has pitched in four Minor League seasons and missed one (2008) because of injury, and is 16-24 with a 4.61 ERA. Last season, he went a combined 3-5 with a 3.84 ERA at Class A Lake Elsinore and the Padres' Arizona Rookie-level team, the latter on an injury-rehab assignment.

Schmidt has given up just 18 home runs in 275 1/3 pro innings pitched.
