DENVER -- Alanna Rizzo, sideline reporter for Rockies broadcasts on Root Sports Rocky Mountain and co-host of the network's Emmy Award-winning Rockies All-Access, is joining MLB Network's on-air team for the 2012 season. Root Sports made the announcement Wednesday. A Colorado native, Rizzo joined the Rockies' broadcasts in 2007 during the late-season run to the World Series. "More than anything, I can say that without a doubt it was the hardest decision I have ever had to make," Rizzo said. "It's with heavy heart and great anticipation that I choose to leave Root Sports Rocky Mountain and join MLB Network. Either way, I'm blessed and happy. But I felt that the opportunity presented to me by MLB Network was one that I could not pass up without regret.
"I can't tell you how much I appreciate the opportunity I had with Root Sports for four-plus years, and the Rockies are second to none. I will always represent my hometown teams and the people of Colorado with great pride on the East Coast." Rizzo also worked as a roving reporter for Root Sports' broadcasts of University of Colorado and University of Denver sports broadcasts.
