CINCINNATI -- Michael Cuddyer, scratched from the lineup Friday due to a stiff neck, started in right field and batted sixth against the Reds on Saturday night. Colorado manager Jim Tracy said Cuddyer was feeling stiffness Wednesday night in Miami but gutted the game out. On Friday, however, the pain was too much to play through.
"He was involved in batting practice [Friday], but you could tell in his face that he was in quite a bit of discomfort," Tracy said. "We tried to work on him in the clubhouse, but we had to scratch him. He's in a much better place today. He was out taking BP this afternoon, he's got full range of motion, his head's moving around the way it should be -- so we've got him back in there today."
Cuddyer is hitting .276 with four home runs and 27 RBIs in 43 games this season.
