As part of Major League Baseball Players Trust's "Buses for Baseball" program, 40 children from various programs supported by Denver-based, not-for-profit Volunteers of America received round-trip transportation to the game, met the players, and received free tickets, food, beverages and souvenirs.
Rockies players Jeff Baker, Aaron Cook, Matt Holliday, Glendon Rusch, Willy Taveras and Yorvit Torrealba all took part in the program, providing everlasting memories to many children who were attending their first Major League Baseball game.
This season, "Buses for Baseball" will provide transportation and personal greetings for more than 1,500 underprivileged children attending Major League Baseball games as invited guests of their big league heroes.
