Arenado, Cabrera to play in All-Star Futures Game
DENVER -- Power-hitting third base prospect Nolan Arenado and left-handed pitcher Edwar Cabrera, teammates at Double-A Tulsa, will represent the Rockies but play on opposite teams during the 14th annual Sirius XM All-Star Futures Games at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City on July 8.

Rosters were announced Thursday. Arenado, from Newport Beach, Calif., will play for the U.S. Team and Cabrera, from Santana, Dominican Republic, will play for the World Team.

Arenado, 21, last year's Arizona Fall League Most Valuable Player, has hit .293 with seven home runs and 36 RBIs through 70 games in his first Double-A season. Last season at Class A Modesto, Arenado finished with a .298 average and 20 home runs, and led the Minors with 122 RBIs.

Cabrera, 24, whose best pitch is his changeup, is 7-4 with a 2.97 ERA in 14 starts this season. He also has 73 strikeouts in 91 innings, and has held opponents to a .185 batting average. Last season at Modesto and Asheville, Cabrera finished with 217 combined strikeouts in 167 innings to lead the Minors.

The 14th annual Sirius XM All-Star Futures Game can be seen live on MLB.TV, ESPN2 and ESPN2 HD and followed live on MLB.com's Gameday on Sunday, July 8, at 3 p.m. MT. In addition, XM Radio will broadcast play-by-play coverage of the event live on MLB Network Radio XM 89. MLB.com will also provide complete coverage before, during and after the game.
