DENVER -- After having interviewed six candidates for their open managerial job, the Rockies' braintrust will meet this week to decide if they've found their man, a Major League source with knowledge of the situation said on Tuesday.

Since former manager Jim Tracy resigned on Oct. 7, the Rockies have interviewed Tom Runnells, bench coach under Tracy; veteran first baseman Jason Giambi, who will retire if given a chance to manage; former Major League shortstop Walt Weiss, who is coaching high-school ball in the Denver area but has worked in a coaching and advisory capacity for the Rockies in the past; former White Sox and Mets manager Jerry Manuel, a one-time American League Manager of the Year; former Phillies bench coach Pete Mackanin, who has been interim manager with the Pirates and Reds; and D-backs third-base coach Matt Williams, who is managing some Rockies prospects in the Arizona Fall League.

Though the club has not ruled out interviewing more candidates, there could be a decision made when Rockies owner and CEO Dick Monfort, general manager Dan O'Dowd and senior director of Major League operations Bill Geivett meet this week.
