Rockies recall LHP Drew Pomeranz from Double-A Tulsa


The Colorado Rockies announced today that they have recalled left-handed pitcher Drew Pomeranz from Double-A Tulsa. To create an open spot on the active roster, the Rockies have optioned infielder Josh Rutledge to Triple-A Colorado Springs. Pomeranz (#13) is scheduled to start tonight's game against the Miami Marlins (6:40 p.m. MDT) at Coors Field.

Pomeranz, 24, will be making his second stint with the Rockies after beginning the year at Triple-A Colorado Springs. He was recalled on June 30th and made three starts for Colorado before being optioned on July 12 to Double-A Tulsa. He went 0-3 over 12.1 innings, while allowing 12 runs on 19 hits during his first stint with the Rockies. The Ole Miss product has made 29 career Major League starts and has gone 4-13 with a 5.37 ERA (127.1.0 ip, 76 er).

Rutledge, 24, was a member of the Rockies Opening Day roster and has played 67 games between two stints with Colorado this season. He's batted .211 (48-for-227) with 5 doubles, 6 home runs, 16 RBI and 35 runs. In 140 career Major League games (2012-13), Rutledge has hit .246 (124-for-504) with 25 doubles, 5 triples, 14 home runs, 53 RBI and 72 runs.
