SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Jon Gray technically blew a save on Saturday, but the Rockies right-hander still impressed in an eventual 5-4 Rockies win over the A's at Salt River Fields.

Gray, the No. 3 overall pick in last year's First-Year Player Draft, was charged with a blown save in the sixth when he allowed a game-tying RBI single to A's shortstop Addison Russell, a fellow highly touted prospect.

He also gave up a double in the sixth before putting the A's down in order in the seventh. He finished his second Cactus League outing by allowing one run on two hits and fanning two.

"He was throwing the ball hard, commanding it," manager Walt Weiss said. "A couple guys got in some fastball counts and got on his fastball, but I thought he threw the ball really well. The ball jumps out of his hand."
