DENVER -- Rockies right-hander Jhoulys Chacin's rehab from a shoulder injury that he suffered at the start of Spring Training should reach a new gear when he starts for Class A Advanced Modesto at Lake Elsinore on Saturday in an injury rehab start.
Chacin threw 50 pitches in a start Tuesday. Rockies head athletic trainer Keith Dugger said Chacin could throw 50 but also could be allowed to go as high as 65 on Saturday. After that, Chacin will join the Rockies in Denver for an evaluation before his next start on April 24 -- which could be at Double-A Tulsa on April 24 or Triple-A Colorado Springs on April 25.
After that, the Rockies will decide whether to give Chacin one more Minor League start or activate him to pitch on the road against the D-backs on April 29.
