"Hopefully, I'll be back for the Giants series [beginning May 20]," Cuddyer said. "You've got to play some games to make sure you are at game speed."
Cuddyer was hitting .317 through 16 games with three homers and 10 RBIs when he suffered the hamstring strain.
Rockies manager Walt Weiss said regular catcher Wilin Rosario, who has been on the disabled list because of a viral infection, is also progressing well.
"I think he and Cuddy both will be with us shortly," Weiss said. "Wilin is getting some at-bats down in Arizona. Within a week, we've got a chance of seeing both guys."
