Hernandez to make spot start Thursday

|

CHICAGO -- Having used scheduled Thursday's scheduled starter Tyler Matzek in relief at the end of Tuesday night's 4-3, 16-inning loss to the Cubs, the Rockies are calling up lefty Pedro Hernandez from Triple-A Colorado Springs for the final game of the series.

Hernandez (6-6, 6.16 ERA at Colorado Springs) has appeared in 15 games, including 13 starts, in the Majors with the White Sox (2012) and Twins (2013) and is 3-4 with a 7.57 ERA.

Weiss said Matzek will not be skipped, but his next start will be pushed back.
