Pridie has played in just 13 Major League games since 2011, including four for the Orioles last season. He played in 101 games for the Mets in 2011.
"This is the goal, to be in the big leagues," Pridie said after greeting his teammates Saturday upon his arrival in the Comerica Park visitors' clubhouse. "Any time, personally, when I get here, it's a sweet thing. It's exciting."
According to manager Walt Weiss, the 30-year-old Pridie lends the team a lefty bat with some pop, as well as some versatility: Pridie can play any outfield position.
Pridie was hitting .275 for Colorado Springs this season, with 22 stolen bases and 10 homers.
"Jason's having a strong year down there. He's been around the block," Weiss said. "He's been grinding away down there. He deserved a callup."
