Tyler John Anderson was signed by Rockies scout Jesse Retzlaff … resides in Las Vegas in the offseason … originally selected in the 50th round of the 2008 MLB First-Year Player Draft by the Minnesota Twins … became the first Oregon Duck to be selected in the first round of the MLB Draft since San Diego chose Dave Roberts first overall in 1972 … holds Ducks records with 285 career strikeouts, 114 strikeouts in a single season (2011) and 14 strikeouts in a single game (March 4, 2011 at LBSU) … is also the only pitcher in school history to collect 100-plus strikeouts in back-to-back seasons (105 in 2010; 114 in 2011) … was ranked the 16th-best college prospect by Baseball America entering 2011 … followed his 2010 collegiate season by playing for Team USA's Collegiate National Team, helping USA win the silver medal at the FISU World Championships.
